Manchester Canoe Club
Workday Saturday 16th June 2012
We are hosting at our Marple site a Division 3 & 4 Canoe Slalom event on 7th & 8th July.
We have planned this workday to help get the site ready for this slalom and tidy for the summer months.
Even if you can only spare a couple of hours it could make a difference to what we can achieve; letting us know you are coming via the forum could help planning.
I don't know today what we'll exactly be aiming to achieve, but there will be the usual need for additional wires across the river for slalom poles; my personal wish is to create entry point benches for which our site was famous in years past; these were gratefully used by our visitors and by Marlin parents - I would need some backers for this, but I'm sure other people have different priorities.
PLEASE give the club a helping hand.
Glenn (MCC Secretary).
Welcome
Welcome to Manchester Canoe Club.
Manchester Canoe Club is one of the oldest Canoe Clubs in Great Britain. It was founded in 1933, and since then has been involved in the development of the sport, particularly in the areas of river touring on both placid water and white water, and the competitive disciplines of White Water Racing and Canoe Slalom.
Our aim is to enable people of all types and ages to enjoy paddling safely on moving water and to improve their skills by providing a community of like minded people.
Lune Tour Report 2011
The Lune - an improver’s day out.

Rumours of a legendary 17 swim paddle down the Lune had already circulated by the time we'd brightened up Burton services with 25 or so multicoloured kayaks. We were reassured that this had 'all been down to a broken thigh brace' and pressed on. An impressive spell of random cooperation eventually landed paddlers and kit at the 'get on' and we were off, away from the bridge and round a wide sweeping bend.

The hard work has paid off for three of Manchester Canoe Club’s talented junior slalom paddlers as they are selected for the National Junior Winter Squads.
Amy and Jade Hollick in the Ladies’ Kayak class and Alastair Paterson in the Canoe singles, all seek to make their mark in the slalom world as they train to perform over the coming months. You all have the full support of the club!
Improvers on the Dee
